Born in Inperfection

My dear son, Habel.
Your birth has brought more joy and laughter to our home.
We thank God for you.
Dad  has something to tell you about your birth.
One day when you have grown up, someone may ask you about your little scar hardly noticeable on your right ear.
I want to tell you why.

You were born with little imperfect development at your right tragus.
You were such a cute little baby, and the extra flesh at your right tragus was very obvious.
Your mom and I struggle a bit whether to remove it or not.
"You were born that way, it's God's will and let it be!"
"It is a defect, and it is better to remove it."
"It's pity to have Habel to go through an operation at such young age!"
"Will he blame us for not removing it when he grown up?"
"Doctor said it may cause infection, so let's remove it!"
At last, we did it, son.

Today, we do not regret.
You are such a handsome little boy.

Before
After

Physical defect sometimes can be easily removed.
But, son, Bible tells us we are born with a more serious defect and is not so obvious.
It is a defect in the heart, in our human nature.
"All men have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God."
We are created in the Image and Likeness of God.
We are suppose to represent God, reflecting His wonderful Glory in the way we think, behave and live.
But we fall short.

This defect can be only removed by the Great Physician, Christ Jesus,
through the power of the Holy Spirit we call Rebirth, or the circumcision of the heart.

Thank God.
