The Essence of Koinonia

Fidel accompany dad to Ipoh on 27-28th Apr to preach at Elim Gospel Hall's young adult and youth fellowship anniversary.
It is important for dad to have separate private time with each of you, to build our close relationship individually.
We had a good time chatting and laughing all the time.
When dad was preaching, Fidel sat alone quietly at the front row. I am a very proud dad.

Using only one verse from 1 John 1: 3, "that which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.", dad pointed out that true fellowship is build upon individual's spiritual fellowship with God and His son through the Spirit. We must ensure we are 'in' the fellowship in the first place, not allowing activities to mislead us of thinking that we are, but actually is 'out side' of the true spiritual fellowship. The gospel of Jesus Christ is the means to enter into the fellowship, and the fellowship grows through the preaching of the good news.

Thank God for this wonderful fellowship with the church and with my son.

Let's promote Expository Preaching!

Thanks mom and children, for accompany me to Petaling Jaya, to conduct a workshop on Expository Preaching, at PJ Gospel Center. (13th~14th Apr 2013)
It was a wonderful fun time for you, as we stayed at Cititel Midvalley, adjacent to two huge shopping mall.

Dad delivered a 6 hours intensive workshop on Expository Preaching.
I hope that all participants enforced their conviction of preaching the Word rather than something else!

Happy New Year 2013

Happy new year, children. We are entering into 2013 today! It is a gift and it is because of God's grace and providence.
In 2013, our church's theme is 'Godly life, enjoying God.' (敬虔生活,以神为乐). It is your dad's new year resolution. I wish, I could simplify my life more by cutting down responsibility and focus more in things I feel where God's calling are. And one of the thing I need to focus and spend my time and energy is to shepherding your heart. God gives you to me to teach and to raise you up to be godly man and woman in the future. This is my greatest responsibility! By God's grace, I hope I can do a good job!
Fidel will be 5 years old, Habel 3 and Tersha 1 by year 2013. Dad could see two different character in Fidel and Habel. Fidel, you are more quite type, shy, and amazingly could show compassion to people though in young age. Habel, you are adventurous, tough, and very interactive with people. Dad and mom are having tough time to just to settle you down even for a minute! I am convinced that character is God's design and plan for us to be useful in His kingdom. He will shape you in the course of time as you grow. Learn to be obedience to His word and walk in His path. Live a godly life and learn to enjoy His presence.

Happy New Year, Children!

A loving and caring brother (most of the time!)

Habel's eyes are the envy of many!

Tersha at 4 months.

Welcome to the Family, Tersha!

Born: 24 July 2012
We joyfully welcome you to the family!
When I was first told by your mom that she is expecting the third child, I was in Tokyo. I can't sleep that night. It was a feeling of happiness and worry, of how your mom and I could cope with three kids. It was near Christmas, and I was reading the narration in the Bible about nativity that night. One verse caught my mind, and it was these words, 'Unto us a child is born.' It was like God is assuring me that a child is given to me, and this child would be a blessing to the world. All my worries faded.

Your name is called Tersha, which is a variant for Tertia, with Latin root which means simply 'The Third". You are my third. A precious Third to your mom and I. Your name in mandarin is 林舒慰. When I needed some inspiration for a name, I turn to the Bible as I did for Fidel and  Habel. Your mandarin name was derived from two key words in Psalms 23. The Lord as our shepherd, He 'restores' our souls, His rod and his staff 'comfort' us. I pray that God will continuously give you restoration and comfort in your life. That was how your name is given. May you grow daily in His grace and gain knowledge of Him day by day.

When we were young.....

Dear children, You were born into the world out of love. God said when He first instituted marriage in the Garden of Eden, "Man shall leave his father and his mother, and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh." Leaving, cleaving, and sharing of the whole person in life long commitment is the blue print of marriage. These are pictures of your mom and dad when we were 'young' (your mom, not me!).
